Dear Members,
So far, despite the current economy, 2009 looks to be a very exciting time. We have a fantastic year already lined up with a new event, a Comedy Night that will replace Jean’s and Mar-tee-ni’s. This change is being made in response to the current economy and feedback from members and the general public for a more economic event.
So far the Schedule is:
Money Tree Raffle Celebration - Friday March 13, 20 Chair: Missy Panchley Raffle Tickets continue to give awards of $100, $25 and bonus entries weekly Comedy Night - Saturday May 2, 2009 Chairs: Francesca Karam, Janna Lafrance Tickets available March 13th
May Basket Raffle – Wednesday May 13, 2009 Chair: Linda Matthieu Look for you invitation early to mid April
Ladies Night Out – Tuesday June 23, 2009 Chairs: Kyra Cordeiro, Helinette Souza Invitations should go out early in June
Bike Challenge – The date is still being worked on, but the event will take place on a Sunday in late July or late September Chairs: Susan Medeiros, Maggy Biszko
Dramatic Production – we are still in the process of deciding on what Production it will be, but we promise it will be as exciting as in past years! Plans are for early September Chair: Marge Dube′
Candlelight Ball – October 24, 2009 Chairs: Dale Ferris, Janna Lafrance Assisted by the crew from Felicia’s Perfect Setting This year we are celebrating “Fire and Ice”!
You can see that I am very excited to be so well organized this year! I have a fantastic slate of officers Helinette Souza, Francesca Karam and Kyra Cordeiro who are really right on top of things. Each Chair is doing a great job and those working on events seem to think we finally have it down pat so the planning as well as the actual events and the work that goes in them is fun and a good diversion for new volunteers looking to get out (and away from watching all the bad news in the world).
The Gift Shop continues to be a backbone of income for the Friends. The volunteers in this shop along with the brilliant Leadership of Janis Karam and her crew, Louise Amaral, Geri Holewiak, and Lisa VonRegenmotor who does the Lobby Sales, are working hard and doing a fantastic job – but they can always use more help – so gather your Friends and Relatives………..give Janis a call and come on down!
Last, but certainly not least, we can’t forget the Junior Friends who are doing a great job in their own mission to support the hospital Emergency Department and their Helmet Program. They are pretty much the sole supporter of this program and they proudly take on this huge task that helps protect the children of our community from serious head injuries.
We are all very busy. Anne Marie Quinn is still plugging at getting us well organized for our own 501(c)(3) and Angie keeps us all socially connected with the Sunshine Club. It seems everyone has their job and they are doing it well……..but if you want to help, we could certainly use it. Just give one of the board members a call or contact me directly at 508-941-9627.
